WARSAW ZOO
Warsaw ZOO is 80 years old. The ZOO was officially opened to visitors on 11 March 1928. Wenanty Burdzinski
was its first director. Today the ZOO covers the area of 40 hectares
and is visited by half a million people a year. This is where one can
see the animals from all over the world. Among 489 species represented in the ZOO, birds are the most numerous group (209 species, 1072 birds). One of the newest and most modern buildings in the garden is the Elephant House. The Aquarium and the Insectarium are also very impressive. There is also "Fantasy ZOO" created specially for kids. This
is where children can visit the animals they know well from fairy
tales. They can touch them, play with them and occasionally feed them.
There are a pony, guinea pigs, ornamental chickens, rabbits and a
donkey. Children have also three play-grounds at their disposal and a
roofed summer house where parties are organised.
